Rodtang Dominates in Epic ONE Championship Showdown
The Iron Man delivers another spectacular performance, cementing his status as one of Muay Thai's most electrifying fighters.
In a display of technical brilliance and raw power, Rodtang "The Iron Man" Jitmuangnon successfully defended his ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Championship in a thrilling five-round battle that had fans on their feet from start to finish.
The Thai superstar faced his toughest challenge yet in Japanese kickboxing sensation Takeru Segawa, who was making his highly anticipated ONE Championship debut after dominating the K-1 scene for years.
Round-by-Round Breakdown
From the opening bell, Rodtang established his presence with his signature forward pressure, walking Takeru down with confidence. The Japanese fighter responded with quick combinations, but Rodtang's iron chin lived up to its reputation as he absorbed shots that would have dropped most opponents.
The second round saw Rodtang elevate his game, landing devastating low kicks that visibly affected Takeru's movement. By the third round, the champion's elbow strikes began finding their mark, opening a cut above Takeru's right eye.
Despite the adversity, Takeru showed tremendous heart, rallying in the fourth round with a series of blistering combinations that momentarily backed Rodtang up. The crowd erupted as both fighters exchanged in the pocket, neither willing to give ground.
In the fifth and final round, Rodtang sealed his victory with a perfectly timed sweep followed by a crushing right hand that nearly ended the fight. Takeru somehow survived to the final bell, earning respect from the champion and fans alike.
Post-Fight Reactions
In his post-fight interview, a humble yet jubilant Rodtang praised his opponent's heart. "Takeru is a true warrior. He hit hard and never stopped coming forward. That's what the fans want to see - two warriors giving everything."
ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong was ecstatic about the match, calling it "one of the greatest Muay Thai fights in ONE Championship history" and hinting at an immediate rematch given the electric atmosphere and competitive nature of the bout.
With this victory, Rodtang extends his ONE Championship record to an impressive 15-1, further cementing his legacy as one of the most dominant Muay Thai fighters of his generation.
What's Next for The Iron Man?
While a rematch with Takeru seems likely given the competitive nature of their first encounter, several other contenders are waiting in the wings. Britain's Jonathan Haggerty, who has moved up in weight after his bantamweight success, has been vocal about wanting another crack at Rodtang after their previous encounters.
There's also growing interest in a special rules super-fight with MMA stars, similar to Rodtang's previous match with Demetrious Johnson. Whatever comes next, one thing is certain: The Iron Man continues to be one of the most exciting fighters to watch in combat sports today.
